Blake Lee-Harwood has more than twenty years experience of developing and implementing advocacy and campaign programmes around the world on a wide range of issues.

He has frontline experience of delivering high profile media coverage and events as well as creating in-depth advocacy strategies and designing training and mentoring programmes.

Blake has been a freelance strategic advisor since April 2007. Prior to forming a consultancy, some of his previous roles included:

Campaigns Director, Greenpeace UK, June 2002 – April 2007

Responsible for the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of all Greenpeace campaigns in the UK as well as contributing to international campaigns around climate change and oceans

Communications Director, Greenpeace UK, August 1999 – June 2002

Responsible for all media output by Greenpeace in the UK including conventional media, website, film, video and stills library as well as creating an organisational communications strategy and media campaign strategy

Head of Media Relations, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Jan 1998 – July 1999

Developed media strategy for Europe’s largest conservation charity

Communications Director, Friends of the Earth, May 1995 – December 1997

Managed the restructuring and focusing of FOE’s communications functions including the creation of Friend of the Earth’s first ever press office

Temporary contract: Head of Media Relations, Voluntary Services Overseas, June 1994 - February 1995

Represented VSO in Sierra Leone during an international hostage incident

Head of Pollution Campaign, Friends of the Earth, July 1990 – May 1994

Successfully campaigned to change UK laws to protect drinking water, rivers and seas from pollution
